John was born on May 28, 1951, in Iowa City, Iowa to the late Norbert and Jeanette Thomann, the oldest of 4. John married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Marilyn K. Kron on December 29th, 1971. Soon after, the couple moved to Missouri where John entered the financial services profession and became a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER(TM). He also studied for and received the designations of Chartered Life Underwriter and Chartered Financial Consultant.
John founded Thomann Financial Services, Inc. in 1996 and was an Investment Advisor Representative with Transamerica Financial Advisors, Inc and a 21 year member of the Circle of Honor. Serving as a mentor to many of his friends and acquaintances and developing lasting friendships with his clients, John’s purpose was to bless and help others in his everyday life, thus he found it very important to give back to his community. John was past President and honorary board member of the Liberty Hospital Foundation, past President and board member of the Seaport Business Association, member of the Liberty Sertoma, and was actively involved in the Clay County Museum & Historical Society.
John was extremely passionate about his practice, clients, community and family. He was an avid outdoorsman, loved cooking for family and friends and was a musician "in-training".
John passed away June 11, 2014 at the young age of 63 in Green Bay, WI while enjoying one of his favorite pastimes, fishing. He lived everyday to the fullest and was a best friend to many.
